Frederick Hammersley: To Paint Without Thinking

Oct 21, 2017 - Jan 22, 2018

Scott Galleries, Chandler Wing

This exhibition on American abstract artist Frederick Hammersley showcases his sketchbooks, notebooks, inventories, and vibrant color swatches to illuminate the painstaking process the artist used to create his hard-edge geometric paintings. The exhibit design is all about symmetry - a tenet paramount in Hammersley's work. Color-blocked paint applications enhanced the artwork and focused attention on key areas.
